At AEON LED, we understand the many benefits of LED lighting, and have worked hard to make our luminaires the best on the market. Yet we also understand that many of our customers do not fully understand the way LED lighting works and why it is the right option for their facilities. Here are some common questions we hear on the topic, with answers from our expert team.
Why is LED lighting an important upgrade for my company?
LED lighting offers many benefits, both for your business and for the environment. While you lower your operating costs and improve the overall visibility of your facility, you will also be protecting the environment. LED lighting uses less energy and lasts longer than other lighting options, keeping waste out of the landfills. It also contains no harmful materials, such as the mercury found in fluorescent lamps, further benefiting the environment.
Does LED have a blue tint?
This question stems from earlier versions of LED technology, which created a blue-tinted light. With AEON LED, you no longer have to worry about blue lighting. These lights have a high color rendering that is quite close to natural sunlight. It is not blue at all.
Can I get any rebates for switching to LED?
Yes. Most cities and states offer utility rebate programs to help counter the costs of upgrading to LED. You may even qualify for federal programs, depending on where you are located and how many lights you are changing. AEON LED can assist you in finding available rebates.
How long do LED lights last?
This answer will depend on the brand and the light’s overall design. Currently, AEON LED products last up to 100,000 hours. This means that they can easily last for years on end, even if they are left on all night long. This is a tremendous advantage of LED lighting over conventional lighting options.
What is color temperature?
The color temperature of LED lighting, which is measured in Kelvins (K), describes the color of the light. The lower the number, the less blue the light will seem. The higher the number, the cooler the light will be. For a light close to daylight, look for a light in the 5000K range.
What is the difference between Lumens and Watts?
When measuring lighting, you will see both Lumens and Watts as measurements. Lumens measures the total light output, which also means the brightness of the light. Watts measure power consumption. LED lights are considered efficient because they deliver a high number of Lumens with just a few Watts of energy consumption.
