AEON now offers the industry’s most efficient, versatile, and powerful LED high-mast luminaires. Among its most stand-out features are enhanced glare-free illumination and a choice of various standard beam spreads. As a result, AEON luminaires provide crisp illumination without visual discomfort.
AEON high-mast luminaires are made using state-of-the-art technology, providing efficiency, glare control, light uniformity, and instant on/off and dimming controls. They are also highly energy efficient, flicker-free, and extraordinarily flexible. In addition, AEON’s proprietary optics produce excellent light distribution and beam spreads to serve various needs—all while saving consumers up to 65% in energy costs compared to more traditional lighting.
A high mast lighting system is an area lighting system meant to illuminate a large land area. Typically, these lights are mounted at the top of a tall pole and aimed toward the ground. High mast LED lighting has proven to be the most effective method for illuminating roads, expansive outdoor areas, railway yards, sporting venues, parking lots, and airports due to its sturdiness, high performance, and cost-effectiveness.
High-mast LED luminaries are often put on poles between 40 and 150 feet tall. Typically, each pole has two to 16 lights installed on them. For even illumination over a vast region, high mast lighting systems are an excellent choice in luminaries as they are strong and resistant enough to withstand the harshest outdoor weather conditions.
High mast lighting offers many solutions to lighting in a variety of places, including:
High mast lighting provides safety, clear viewing, and security in large areas or locations where intense lighting is desired.
AEON’s high mast lighting features state-of-the-art LED technology. They are a marked improvement over the high-intensity discharge (HID) lighting that represents older forms of high mast lighting. However, some common issues arise with using HID bulbs for outdoor lighting applications.
Performance is a significant factor in selecting the right lights for an application. For instance, metal halide lamps may produce a whiter light, but they also have accelerated lumen degradation, which means that after initial installation, the lamps’ light output rapidly declines. On the other hand, high-pressure sodium lamps have a longer application life because they suffer less lumen degradation than metal halide lamps. Still, the color of the light leans toward orange and has a very low CRI. As a result, high-pressure sodium (HPS) lights enjoy a long lifespan but visually offer a lower-quality light.
Regarding industrial site lighting applications like high mast illumination, maintenance expenses are frequently a significant problem. High mast fixtures can interfere with customer or employee day-to-day activities while changing a lamp or a ballast, in addition to potential issues with lamp lifetime. A single external HID high mast fixture can easily cost up to $2,000 in labor and materials over three years.
Because AEON LED lights have a significantly longer lifespan and can withstand exposure to the harshest environments, they do not need to be replaced or services nearly as often. This saves customers not only maintenance and replacement costs but also reduces the risk of injuries to workers.
Typical HID bulb wattages range from 400 to 2,000 watts for standard high mast installations. The output of light increases with wattage. The amount, spacing, mounting height of the light fixtures, and the purpose for which the area is to be lighted all affect the current wattages used. The annual operating costs for a few 1000w or 2000w high-pressure sodium high mast lights—the most popular wattages for existing high mast lighting—can be as high as $6,300 and $12,500, respectively.
High mast LED luminaires cost a fraction of that and require no warmup time.
Almost every downside of using HID lights represents the advantage LED high mast lights deliver. They’re more energy efficient and, therefore, cost less to operate. As a result, they have a longer life and can thrive in the worst weather. LED luminaries have an average lifespan of over 50,000 hours—twice as long as HID lights. This means fewer maintenance expenses and less need for replacement.
They provide consistent, even, clear light. In addition, LEDs have a color temperature capability between 2,700K and 7,000K. AEON high mast luminaries can be dimmed at will and turned on and off instantly with no warming up period.
High-mast lighting systems from AEON include straightforward design, clever functionality, and user-friendly usability. They offer four popular lumen output packages: 230W: 33,100lm, 310W: 44,100lm, 440W: 62,100lm, 520W: 73,500lm, and 750W: 105,000lm are the lumen outputs.
